BBC Radio Oxford, Sophie Law talks with Jackie Jarvis about Netwalking
I used dread going to networking events because I found starting up conversations difficult. However, because I feel comfortable walking, I automatically found it much more comfortable talking to people that were walking with me. Net-walking is a much more relaxed way making new contacts.
I went to my first Net-walk and was surprised at how easy it was to talk to people and about my business. I liked the way the guides created an opportunity to change partners – it all seemed very natural. We all seemed to find out so much about each other, real things, things you remember.
Net walking made me get out from behind the four walls of my office and get out in the fresh air. I feel so much better for it. As well as, meeting and making some great contacts, it has promoted a simple change in lifestyle, I walk more now!
“Netwalking is a fantastic initiative that is perfect for the strange world we are all getting used to….and it’s here to stay. I’ve seen, first hand, the genuine euphoria of people connecting, having spent so long confined to home offices and tied to technology without face to face human contact. Enjoying the beautiful surroundings we all take for granted, engaging in conversation with good company AND benefiting from gentle exercise all at the same time…. It’s the perfect recipe for time well spent. Netwalking is the ideal community spirit generator.” Richard Rosser, CEO, B4
